Candidate Spotlight: Helen Tai

Helen Tai lives in Solebury with her husband of 30 years, John McDevitt, and their dog, Cosmo. As a public servant, business owner and community volunteer, Helen was in her fifth year serving on the Solebury Township board of supervisors when she won the May 15 Special Election.

Ten years ago, Helen started Enabling Innovation, a consulting firm that drives transformational innovation, building on two decades of experience partnering with organizations and people to reach their goals. Helen is from Detroit and is the daughter of Chinese immigrants. She became politically active after George W. Bush was re-elected, when she realized that voting was important, but not enough. Helen was sworn in on June 5 and introduced her first bill within 1 hour of being sworn in.

She is looking forward to championing and fighting for government reform, reproductive rights, public education, fair wages and the environment.

“If I want a government that reflects my values, I have to become more involved.”
