Candidate Spotlight: Sara Johnson Rothman

Sara Johnson Rothman is a former Special Victims prosecutor, an Education Law attorney, Vice President of the Upper Dublin School Board and a mom. She grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, attended public school and the University of Nebraska. Sara came to Philadelphia to attend Temple Law school and was drawn to trial advocacy and the idea of helping victims of crimes, especially women and children – her mom was repeatedly sexually assaulted as a child and she was sexually assaulted in college. After getting hired by the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, she began focusing on Special Victims, where her only client was justice.

Sara, her husband, Scott, and their son and a daughter, Graham (9) and Harper (5), moved to Upper Dublin Township in November of 2012 for the excellent public schools. A year later, after a member of the School Board resigned, she was appointed to the position. In this role she has negotiated teacher contracts, instituted new policies that support communication, anti-harassment and anti-discrimination. She’s now the elected Vice President of the Upper Dublin School Board and her interest in education law has her back working as an Education Law attorney.

Of everything she does, being a mom is most important to her and it’s one the biggest reasons why Sara is running.

“I will do everything I can to be able to look at my five-year-old daughter in her eyes and truthfully tell her that she has the same opportunities as her big brother.”
