Candidate Spotlight: Summer Lee

Summer Lee grew up in, worked in and organized in her district from the beginning. Accompanied by a law degree from Howard University, she brings a deep understanding of the issues that plague the commonwealth. These issues are the focus of her campaign – combating structural racism and inequalities that constrain communities and people of color. Poor communities often face under-resourced schools and a lack of employment opportunities, which contribute to disproportionate contact with the justice system.

Summer has worked in community and labor organizing, advocating for workers’ rights and a $15 minimum wage. She currently serves on the Woodland Hills Commission on Youth Development and Learning.
