On Monday, a few members of the Represent PA Executive team, along with some invited guests, met with Senator Catherine Cortez-Masto of Nevada. Senator Cortez-Masto is the head of the DSCC and she had coffee with us to talk about the campaign to retake the Senate.
Similar to Represent PA’s investment-like efforts, the DSCC meets with candidates across the country to determine if their campaigns are strong enough to endorse. They provide support with polling, policy writing and paying for campaign offices.
The Senate is definitely flippable for the Democrats. There are now five states with senate seats that look good – Arizona, Colorado, Maine, Iowa and North Carolina. And since little will change in Washington until democrats hold the house and flip the senate, consider donating to the DSCC, at the same time you donate to Represent PA to take back Harrisburg.
Money is crucial to these elections. Incumbent protection, both on the state and federal level, is something that we cannot neglect. Two of the senate’s most important incumbents up for reelection, Senator Tina Smith and Senator Jeanne Shaheen, have planned events with us this year (Smith joined us in March and Shaheen will be with us in December).
Working to elect women on both the state and federal level is a privilege for us. Want to get involved on the federal side? Please let us know if you would be interested by contacting courtney@representpa.org.
